Puerto Vallarta is a city located in the western part of the state of Jalisco in central Mexico overlooking the Pacific Ocean known as "The Mexican Rivera". Puerto Vallarta is nestled on the shores of Mexico's largest natural bay, Bahía de Banderas. Puerto Vallarta Mexico traces its history back to the 1500's, when Spanish explorers visited it. Puerto Vallarta later became known as a refuge for pirates pillaging the Pacific Coast. Once a quiet fishing village, Puerto Vallarta was made famous by a film named, "Night of the Iguana" starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Since then, Puerto Vallarta has developed into a lively resort with wide appeal. Puerto Vallarta Mexico is the second-most visited resort in all of Mexico attracting over 2 million tourists per year and growing. Fortunately though, the town has managed to retain some of its authentic Mexican charm. Puerto Vallarta has a unique architectural style, which differentiates it from other seaside resorts. It has picturesque cobblestone streets, whitewashed stucco houses topped with red Spanish terracotta tiles and wrought iron balconies all the while sitting on a gorgeous sandy beach. Puerto Vallarta usually experiences 322 days of sunshine a year and average temperatures between68°F and 85°F. Puerto Vallarta is definately a beach destination you simply can not go without sampling. puerto vallarta pools
